The author is arguing that we sometimes replace genuine repentancce and trust in Christ for fake “flesh peace. The Gospel of Jesus Robert W. When the flesh gets a person to the point that he can sit under the teaching of the Word, and even delight in it for its intellectual beauty, yet not be changed, he has snuffed out the wick of his first love.
As Wnemy was reading, I felt myself cringing at the descriptions of rationalizations we I use to escape our duties to God. I did this in a Bible study with some college girls, lundgaaard it was great meaning we all saw our sin. Too many of us are satisfied with the middle ground of not giving in to sin, but also not actively battling it. Oct 31, Leslie rated it it was amazing. Lundgaard makes it clear from the very Preface of this book that much of the material he presents in The Enemy Within is but a modernization of the writings of that great Puritan author, John Owen. Chapter 12 No Easy Peace made me the most uncomfortable.
In the introduction he krsi he wants to make Owen accessible, but in my judgment, especially as the book progresses, the author rarely points back to Owen and simply flattens his arguments.
The law of sin is a raging river, carrying them along; they cannot measure the force of the current, because they have surrendered themselves to it and are borne along by it. Short, precise, thought-provoking, and encouraging, Lundgaard’s book is an incredible aid to believers as they struggle against the unrelenting temptations from their sinful flesh.

Tough, intense read on vigilance against sin, and passion for renewal in Christ. We find this law inside us.
I am simply amazed how well this book communicates the truth of sin, and the fact that we all battle this enemy. If we are going to fight sin effectively, we must be familiar with its tactics.
The Missionary Position Christopher Hitchens. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. I have a very good friend in our church who has created a very helpful leader’s guide for this book. There are plenty of metaphors that he uses that stuck with me. Very digestible, challenging and encouraging.
You Can Change Tim Chester. This leaves sin-weary believers like myself prone to discouragement when approaching the subject of indwelling sin.
